Gaining 2+ lbs overnight means fluid is building. This is serious — call your dialysis center immediately.
Shortness of Breath
Difficulty breathing, especially when lying flat, signals fluid overload. Sit upright and call for help immediately.
Swelling
Swollen ankles, legs, or face indicate fluid retention. Note where the swelling is and how quickly it developed.
Dizziness / Confusion
Feeling lightheaded or confused can mean low blood pressure or electrolyte imbalance. Sit or lie down and call your care team.
Chest Pain
Any chest pain or pressure needs immediate attention. Do not wait. Call 911 if severe.
Fever / Infection
